Thalapathy Vijay’s TVK leads Tamil Nadu election 2026 count. Kamal Haasan, Hema Malini, Nani, Kajal Aggarwal and others congratulate the actor-turned-politician.

Tamil Nadu woke up to a result few had fully anticipated.
As vote counting got underway on Monday, May 4, Thalapathy Vijay’s party Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam — TVK — surged ahead in the early trends, leading in over 108 of the state’s 234 assembly seats. A party that is barely two years old was outpacing the DMK and AIADMK, both of which have dominated Tamil Nadu politics for nearly half a century.
The reaction from the film fraternity was immediate. Congratulations came pouring in from across India — from Bollywood to Kollywood to Tollywood.

Kamal Haasan: “You Have Won the Trust of the People”
Perhaps the most significant congratulatory message came from fellow actor-turned-politician Kamal Haasan, who knows better than most what it takes to build a political identity outside the film world.
Haasan wrote on X: “Congratulations to Vijay and the members of Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam. You have won the trust of the people. You have achieved a remarkable victory in your very first election. My best wishes for public service.”
It was a measured, respectful acknowledgment — from one man who walked this road to another who is just beginning it.

Hema Malini: “He Could Be Tamil Nadu’s Next Chief Minister”
Actress and BJP Member of Parliament Hema Malini did not hold back. Posting on X, she wrote: “My heartfelt congratulations to Vijay for this new role. It is very likely that he will be in the role of Tamil Nadu’s new Chief Minister.”
Coming from a sitting MP of a rival political alignment, the message carried weight.

Nani: “First Doubted, Then Crowned”
Telugu actor Nani drew a line that resonated with film fans across the country.
He wrote: “Congratulations Vijay sir. First they doubted, then they were crowned. It happened in our house and now it is happening in our neighbour’s house. An underdog winning is always ‘Absolute Cinema’ — or should I say ‘Absolute Politics’? Hope great things continue for the people of Tamil Nadu, who have made their decision clear.”
The reference to “our house” was a nod to Andhra Pradesh and Telangana, where similar political transitions involving film personalities have previously played out.

Kajal Aggarwal: “This Victory Is Proof of Your Vision and the People’s Love”
Actress Kajal Aggarwal shared an extended post on X:
“Heartiest congratulations to Vijay on this massive, resounding victory! This moment is a true testament to your vision, your dedication, and the unwavering love people have for you. The people of Tamil Nadu have spoken — loudly, clearly, and with immense pride. This is not just a win; it is a celebration of a deep, powerful connection with millions. Wishing you tremendous strength and success as you step into this inspiring new chapter. May you bring the change so many are hoping for.”

Tiger Shroff, Sibi Sathyaraj, Sharwanand and Others Join In
Bollywood actor Tiger Shroff kept it simple but warm: “Congratulations to Vijay. It is amazing to see the trust people have in you. Wishing you more strength for this next chapter of your life.”

Tamil actor Sibi Sathyaraj wrote one of the more personal tributes of the day: “You achieved the heights of your career through talent, hard work, passion, discipline, focus, and dedication — and yet you chose to honour your promise and enter politics. You have now made history with those same qualities. Despite all the difficulties over the years, you stood firm. Anna, you have made your fans and supporters proud, and in your trademark style, silenced every critic. You have proved that people vote for truth, not cash. Thank you, Thalaiva.”

Telugu actor Sharwanand added: “Some journeys are meant to go further. Congratulations Vijay sir. From cinema to leadership, you have won the trust of millions. Wishing you strength and purpose for what lies ahead.”

Telugu star Sai Dharam Tej wrote: “Whistle Podu! Vijay, this is a tremendous victory that says a lot about your intent and your incredible work. There is a different kind of joy when an actor proves everyone wrong through the love of the public. This has been a pattern — especially in South India.”

From Filmmakers and Composers — A Chorus of Praise
Director A.R. Murugadoss, who has directed Vijay in several films, posted: “From ruling the screen to winning hearts — heartiest congratulations to Vijay sir on his first electoral victory. This is just the beginning.”

Music composer G.V. Prakash Kumar called it unprecedented: “Congratulations Vijay. This is a very big deal. This is a historic victory. A win like this has never happened before and may never happen again.”

Composer S. Thaman kept it emotional, simply writing “Anna” accompanied by a red heart — the kind of message that needs no explanation among fans.

Actor Raghava Lawrence gave Vijay a new name in his post: “Congratulations, my Nanba Vijay. Today you have truly made history. I always pray for your happiness.”

Sivakarthikeyan, Nikkhil Siddhartha, Venkat Prabhu, Varalaxmi Sarathkumar, and Santosh Narayanan all shared posts celebrating the win, each noting the historic nature of a debut party finishing at the top of a state as politically complex as Tamil Nadu.

The scale of the reaction tells its own story. These are not polite messages from colleagues — many of these congratulations carry genuine surprise and admiration at what TVK has pulled off in just two years.
Political analysts have long noted that while actor fan bases in Tamil Nadu are enormous, converting screen popularity into disciplined votes is a different challenge entirely. Vijay appears to have done exactly that — and in doing so, has reshaped the Tamil Nadu political map in a single election cycle.
The state has seen actors enter politics before. But a brand-new party, led by a man with no prior political experience, emerging as the largest party in its very first election — that is a different story altogether.
Whatever comes next — government formation, coalition negotiations, or the possibility of Vijay as Chief Minister — Tamil Nadu politics will not look the same after today.
